A Mâdal is a large drum made using processed wood from Beo or teak trees. This wood is hollowed out and specially-treated leather is attached to both sides, which have equivalent diameters. The Mâdal is characterized by its distinct and dominating sound.
Sambal are a set of two, differently-sized, wooden Dangi drums that are attached together. One drum has a higher pitch than the other. This instrument is played with two unique wooden sticks, one of which is straight and one curled at the end.
